A brand new album of inspired electronic/techno sounds from Chicago's WILLAM SELMAN (aka WARMDESK). Based on the piece "Guero" by German composer Helmut Lachenmann, Guero Variations is made almost completely with sounds from the piano—using recordings from several piano interiors—but without actually playing the keys. Free-flowing glissando and percussive sounds are shaped into hypnotic, rhythmic patterns, using lots of computer-based processing, wave table synthesis and the occasional synth sound. Nine tracks recorded with deft precision and attention to detail that never lose their underlying soulful warmth.
